Overview

The Advanced Professional and Continuing Education Course in Subversion - Elements of Knowledge and Assessment offers, from an interdisciplinary perspective, the tools to understand and assess subversive phenomena. A distinctive feature of the programme is its direction, entrusted to Dr. Maurizio Carboni, a professional of undoubted expertise who worked for years within the State apparatus responsible for countering subversion and crime. The Course thus becomes an opportunity for in-depth study analysed through the lens of an insider, capable of reconstructing the causes and origins of national subversion and terrorism with a rigorous historical and scientific approach.

The programme is aimed at State officials, members of the Armed Forces and Police Forces, professionals from the business world (with particular reference to critical infrastructure and the defence and aerospace sectors), intelligence scholars and analysts, mass media and private security operators, university researchers and all those who, driven by strong motivation, wish to acquire an adequate knowledge of the subjects covered.

Training is entirely online: UNINTESS adopts an e-learning methodology that overcomes barriers of space and time, delivering lessons directly to the participant's email inbox. A flexible approach that allows you to study anywhere and at any time, reconciling work and family needs.

The Course is structured into two modules, dedicated respectively to the general part and the special part of the subversive phenomenon.

First Module - General Part

  • Concept of threat: examination of the concept of threat and its exogenous and/or endogenous sources
  • Exogenous phenomena: terrorism, media aggression, military aggression
  • Endogenous phenomena: ethnic minorities, political-ideological causes, religious motivations, organised crime and petty crime

Second Module - Special Part

  • Causes and origins of subversion in Italy: dating, the 1945-1960 period and low-intensity civil war, the differences between the phenomena of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s
  • Right-wing and left-wing subversion: main subversive formations, aims and similarities
  • Regulatory aspects: the Italian experience and criminal law

At the end of the programme, once the assessment exams have been passed, UNINTESS awards those who qualify a Diploma that formally certifies the attainment of a high level of knowledge of the topics covered in the Course programme.

  • Assessment: two assessments in the form of a multiple-choice test, one intermediate and one final; each is considered passed with a minimum score of 18/30 and the final mark is the arithmetic average of the results.
  • Entry requirements: degree (old system, master's or bachelor's), secondary school diploma or equivalent foreign qualification.
  • Timing: a total commitment of approximately 200 hours; the student chooses the start date and must complete the exams within the 12th month of enrolment.
  • CFU and Public Administration: the Diploma may be submitted to your Degree Course Board to be recognised as curricular CFU (university credits); Public Administration staff are also issued the documentation needed to request any recognition of the Course.
